Research shows that 4th, 5th and 6th grades are a critical time for at-risk youth. At this age, kids can either strengthen their resolve to do well in school, join teams, find their passions and make good life choices or they can get off track. Going one way can mean a productive, healthy life. Going the other can mean losing out on life chances. That’s where Time To Rise steps in.

A Nashville-based non-profit, Time to Rise gives at-risk youth the opportunity to learn and grow—one summer at a time. Through a series of three consecutive summer camps, which offer academic and enrichment opportunities along with a character education initiative, Time to Rise students receive the guidance they need to realize their potential.

Time to Rise is a public/private partnership and, as such, we employ top-rated teachers from both public and private schools. Our teachers undergo a rigorous hiring process to ensure that they are not only experts in their field but also passionate, caring professionals. Because of our approximate 1:4 adult-student ratio, kids in Time to Rise have ongoing direct contact with teachers and assistants, who closely monitor their academic progress and offer personal guidance.

Our Counselors

In addition to teachers, Time to Rise hires part-time and full-time counselors to help with summer camps and tutoring. These counselors are carefully selected high school students who have demonstrated leadership skills and a passion for working with youth. Many counselors return summer after summer, showing a commitment to the program and to the kids they love. Being a part of Time to Rise is as educational and fun for the counselors as it is for the students.
